FIXED OR ZOOM EYEPIECE?

Some telescopes have an eyepiece that is removable from the main body. With this type you have a choice of eypiece.

Fixed - a 20x wide angle, low magnification eyepiece can easily be interchanged with a 60x high powered eyepiece.
They are designed to give the best optical performance and best possible field of view.

Zoom
– Scanning across a landscape and finding a bird is easier when zoomed out at lower magnification and zooming in once the bird is found.
Zoom eyepieces are more convenient and more expensive.
Zoom eypieces have more glass in them so loose more light, the image will be darker than with the equivalent magnification fixed lens.
