The Bird Table

A bird feeding station is the most important contribution most people can make to help wild birds survive year round.
Attracting birds to your garden is also fascinating, educational and great fun to simply watch.

Birdtable Do's and Don'ts

Here are some useful tips:

• People like fancy birdtables, birds just need somewhere safe to find food!

• A roof helps keep soft foods dry and provides some protection against predators.

• Suspend from a tree or support on a sturdy post.

• Site within view of the house, but not too close to large windows.

• Size matters for birdtables, 30-60cm square is best.

• A lip around the edge with gaps for cleaning will prevent food being blown away.

• Place the birdtable about a couple of metres away from the cover of a bush or fence.

• Specially made window feeders are good if garden space is limited.
