FARM VISITS

Please note because of Covid restrictions farm visits are currently suspended.

Nestled in its own secret valley, Church Farm is a haven of beauty and tranquility in the heart of Cirl Bunting country. The farm is situated on the site of a Domesday manor with a remarkable 13th Century crusader church nearby. In the 1920's the archpriest here was the Rev William Keble Martin, author of the best selling first illustrated flora of Britain.

More recently Andrew Cooper and Church Farm have featured in many BBC television productions, including 'Gardeners' World' with Carol Klein, 'Flying Gardener' with Chris Beardshaw and 'The One Show'. It is also a live venue for BBC Autumnwatch and was the location for the popular BBC 'Natural World', documentary 'Badgers - Secrets of the Sett', narrated by Sir David Attenborough.

Various groups regularly visit us for an entertaining walk and talk on the extraordinary history and wildlife of the valley, from stone age hunters to stories of BBC natural history productions. The visit can also include a tour of the nearby crusader church. We like to limit the group size, but larger groups can be accommodated in late summer when one of our fields is used for parking.

The courtyard conference room accommodates up to 50 people, complete with tables, chairs and facilities for audio visual presentations.

We cater for all age groups, from Brownies and school visits to Rotary Clubs, U3A and adult education. Some, like the Devon Wildlife Trust and RSPB come back year after year. I try and vary the walk and because I never use a script, the talk is always different!

"Everyone really enjoyed themselves, especially the optional cream tea afterwards."

Other that have visited include Probus, gardening clubs, wildlife and history groups,

coffee morning groups and other fund raising groups. Numbers for a farm walk and talk including a visit to nearby St.Blaise Church, are normally limited to between 10 and 30 people,

no dogs permitted but easy parking for at least 12 cars.

If you have a group which may be interested please contact us early. The talks are very popular and we already have several bookings for the coming year. Please ask for further details and availability for your next event.  info@wildlink.com to enquire.
