FARM VISITS
Nestled in its own secret valley, Church farm is a haven of tranquility in the heart of Cirl Bunting country. The farm is situated on the site of a Domesday manor with a remakable 13th Century crusader church nearby. In the 1920’s the Rev William Keble Martin, author of the best selling first illustrated flora of Britain, was the priest here for several years.
Various groups organise visits here for a walk and talk which I give on the amazing history and wildlife of Haccombe valley. It can also include a visit to our crusader Church. We like to limit the group size to a maximum of around 30 people at a time but larger groups can be accommodated in late summer when a field is used for parking.
A new lecture room is also available that can accommodate up to 50 people, complete with tables, chairs and facilities for audio visual presentations.
We also cater for all age groups, from Brownies and school visits to Rotary Clubs and adult education. Some groups like the International Tree Foundation, the Devon Wildlife Trust and RSPB come back year after year. I try and vary the walk and as I never use a script, the talk is always different! Everyone seems to enjoy themselves, especially the optional cream tea afterwards.
If you have a group which may be interested please contact us, the talks are very popular and we already have several bookings for 2008. Please ask for further details and availability for your next event. Telephone 01626 872310.
